Newspaper Columnist:
14 years a columnist for the Gold Country Times:  " Legends of the Gold Country".  It reached over 10,000 readers in a three-county area that encompasses Amador, Calaveras, and El Dorado counties.  The column captured the raw but true stories of the gold rush era.  Highly popular, his column alone accounted for 50% of all new subscriptions to the newspaper since records have been kept.  
Author:
Red Johnson was first published in 1994.  He has written and had published five more books since then.  
Red picks his subjects carefully, researches thoroughly (including every location in the book) and writes content as though every book is a non-fiction.  Rule one:  The book must contribute to western American history, or change it.  Rule two: Read rule one.  A reader must be able to acquire new information and enjoy it's presentation.   He and his wife MaeBeth traveled all over the west to find stories that needed to be told.  Once found Red dedicated himself to bring them to the readers with the same passion he has for the truth.
